Audiovisual (AV-Media)
The CDs and DVDs are listed completely in the online catalogue. LP's can be currently looked for in the card catalogue. AV-Media is to be collected at the circulation desk.
Change of Address
Please notify the library or student office immediately of your new address.
Circulation
Books, music sheets and audiovisual media may be borrowed. Reference works, journals and theses can be used only on the premises of the library (reference collection).
Classification system
For the scheme, see the corresponding menu item in the online-catalogue or the separate leaflet ("Systematik").
Copying
Coin-operated and Unicard copiers are located in the foyer of the university. External users are asked to provide identity card.Please respect the copyright laws.
Databases
Via the website you will find links to various databases. The RILM database can currently only be accessed by the university.
Eating, Drinking
and smoking or cell phone calls are not permitted in the library.
Fines
1st Reminder 1,50 € / per unit borrowed
2nd Reminder 3,00 € / per unit borrowed
3rd Reminder 6,50 € / per unit borrowed
Please note: The fees of the individual reminders are to be added.
Fines for AV media / reference stock for each day 1,50 €
Create a new library card 5,00 €
If fines reach 11,00 €, your account will be suspended until you pay the fines.
Guided Tours
For students: at the beginning of each
semester (see dates posted up, course catalogue and website).
Search and Find - Office hours: 2 x week there is a colleague for more complex research questions about catalogues, reference works and databases.
Individually agreed dates as a single session and guide (in English).
Guided tours for teachers on request.
Information
Your questions regarding catalogue searches and classification system will be answered by our staff at the circulation desk. For more comprehensive advice on presentations, individual appointments can be arranged.
Interlibrary loan
Books, journal articles and music sheets, which do not exist in a library of Freiburg can be ordered via the Interlibrary loan from other libraries. (See leaflet)
Internet
The users of the library are a total of 5 Internet workstations.
List of stocks
All books, music sheets, journals and reference works are available to open access. Within the classification groups, the media is arranged alphabetically by the name of the author, composer or title.
AV media are available at the circulation desk (see Audiovisual).
Loan Periods
For university staff
Books and music sheets: 8 weeks
Renewal: 2 x 8 weeks
CD / DVD: overnight / weekend
(2 CDs / DVDs per user / no renewal)
For guest users
Books and music sheets: 4 weeks
Renewal: 2 x 4 weeks
Loan Number: max. 10 media units
CD / DVD: use only local
Reservation / Booking not possible
Lockers
In the entrance hall lockers are available for free. The library assumes no liability for the loss of valuables.
Loss
Do report lost library items immediately. These must be purchased by the borrower.
The processing fee per item is an additional 16,00 €.
Online account
The online catalogue enables the user to manage
his or her own account (e.g. renewal, reservation).
The library account number is written on the front of the university ID card. You will be given a password when you register.
If you want an introduction or if you forgot your password please go to the circulation desk.
Online Catalogue
The online catalogue is accessible from any Internet work station, via the homepage. This catalogue includes all books, sheet music and CDs / DVDs.

The library is open to anyone. Only members of the university, students and teachers of musicology at the University of Freiburg may borrow books and items.
For all other users the library is for reference only.
